Before you can line up to run the Comrades Marathon, you need to register, collect your race pack, and make sure you’ ve ticked off all the final items on the checklist. Here’ s a step-by-step guide to doing that at Race Pack Collection Pietermaritzburg, where the countdown to race day reaches fever pitch as runners officially register for the 2026 Comrades Marathon over three days at Comrades House.
Please note: This is the satellite race pack collection venue, with the majority of the field registering at the Durban Race Pack Collection and Comrades Marathon Expo presented by Cell C, at the Durban Exhibition Centre. Runners who want to register in Pietermaritzburg had to have selected this option when they entered the race. More info on Race Pack Collection in Durban appears in this section of the digimag.
1 SETTING THE SCENE
For generations of runners, Comrades House has been more than just an administrative headquarters. It is the home of the Comrades Marathon, a place where the race’ s history, traditions and future come together. Whether you are a first-time participant, a seasoned Green Number runner or a supporter sharing in the excitement, a visit to Comrades House offers an unforgettable start to the Comrades Marathon weekend.
Comrades House will be buzzing with activity throughout race pack collection, with a variety of sponsor and partner activations creating an exciting festival atmosphere along with a range of dedicated photo opportunities to commemorate your Comrades journey and share your excitement as race day approaches.
2 DATES AND TIMES
The dates and times for Race Pack Collection in Pietermaritzburg are the same as the Comrades Marathon Expo in Durban:
• Thursday 11 June – 10h00-19h00
• Friday 12 June – 09h00-19h00
• Saturday 13 June – 09h00-16h00
3 PARKING
Parking for the Comrades Marathon Registration in Pietermaritzburg will be along Comrades Marathon Road and the surrounding streets near Comrades House. Please note that limited space is available.
4 COLLECTION OF RACE PACKS
Athletes must collect their Comrades Marathon race numbers, race T-shirt and goodie bag from the Race Pack Collection venue selected at the point of entry. When collecting their race packs, runners must present their official entry confirmation QR code received via email or WhatsApp, as well as identification( ID or Passport).
The race pack will include your two race numbers. Make sure you also check out our important notes on the rules governing race numbers and race day apparel in this section of the digimag.
5 PROXY COLLECTION
If you’ re unable to collect your race pack in person, the Comrades Marathon allows proxy collection, meaning you can nominate someone to collect it on your behalf. To arrange this, you must complete the official online proxy process: 1. Log into your 2026 entry profile 2. Select“ Nominate Proxy” 3. Enter the details of your proxy( the person you are authorising to collect your race pack). 4. Confirmation is sent automatically to your proxy via WhatsApp and email. 5. The confirmation message includes a QR code, which is essential for collection.
At race pack collection, your proxy must present the QR code and a valid form of identification. Without both, collection will not be permitted.
6 THE GOODIE BAG
Each registering runner will receive a Comrades Marathon Goodie Bag. Some of the highlights to look out for in this year’ s bag will be the official Comrades Marathon Toyota Cap, a Comrades Marathon water bottle, Cell C socks, a bottle of Thirsti Water, and samples or vouchers from various sponsors and partners of the event, including an anti-cramp hydration sachet from 32Gi.
