Benefits of Composting What is Composting? Composing is nature’s way of recycling. Most simply put, composting is the natural breakdown or decomposition of organic materials whether by bacteria, fungi or another organism. Compost is a dark, crumbly and earthy smelling organic matter that has gone through a natural decomposition process. Organic materials include all plants, animals and anything living.
