From the editor Exploring essential elements of a robust compliance framework As I introduce the fourth issue of Compliance Insider® I’d like to thank all of our subscribers for the positive feedback we have received since launching this publication. I’m proud of what we have achieved in a short space of time, and your comments and suggestions help us to ensure we produce articles that provide you with insight and advice relevant to your roles and challenges. In this issue we continue to focus on providing solutions to common challenges global companies face while developing their compliance frameworks. We shine a spotlight on three essential cogs in the compliance wheel: risk assessments remediation strategies training programmes. We take a tour around the world, exploring the compliance challenges of conducting business in Russia, Iran and Myanmar, and diving into the recent developments in Chinese bribery act enforcement. Our popular Things To Think About™ series this time focuses on developing and maintaining a policy lifecycle management system, and we also take a close look at gift and entertainment policies in our benchmarking study. I hope you enjoy these articles, and the many others in this issue. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas for future topics. Scott Lane Editor in Chief, Compliance Insider® 04
