Welcome to Comp Journal!

This journal is an annual publication highlighting the work of Composition writers at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire. Students submit writing of various genres, from personal narratives to research and analysis, all of which was produced in a Composition course in the previous academic year. Our goal is to

celebrate and promote the newest writers at our university.

This 2018 edition is the first digital edition of Comp Journal. It

is organized according to genre to demonstrate the scope of styles and subjects that students explore in Composition classes at Plymouth State.

The 2016-2017 academic year was the inaugural year for the Clusters approach at Plymouth State, which resulted in the implementation of Cluster Composition courses. These courses take an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to the teaching and learning of writing so that students can apply their writing to their particular majors, clusters, or projects involving the campus and community. This approach makes writing more relevant to students' academic and personal lives.

Special thanks to Mark Flynn and Kristen Stelmok, who spent several hours over the summer reading submissions for the journal and working with me to make Comp Journal 2018 the exciting publication that it is. Thanks also to Marek Bennet for his contribution to the cover. Thank you to Elliott Gruner, who made the digital publishing of this journal possible. And finally, thanks to the students and their Composition instructors, who provided the stellar writing of this edition.

I invite you to take a look at what our students have created this year and subscribe to Comp Journal to receive future editions of our publication!
