He will begin seeing patients Sept. 2. Dr. Ortiz is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He attended medical school at Universidad Nuestra SeƱora de La Paz, Bolivia, and completed a general medicine internship and internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, Bronx, New York. Dr. Ortiz specializes in treating patients 18 years of age and older and can see adults with multiple health problems or complex conditions. Call EDSMC at 417-876-2118 to schedule an appointment. Welcome Dr. Ortiz. Resident Spot Galen Gazaway Galen was born in rural Croweburg, Kansas, July 11 1943, to parents Clifford and Frances Gazaway. Galen had one sister and five brothers. Galen was raised near Mulberry, Kansas, where he went to a one room school house in the country. He later attended high school in Bronaugh, Missouri. Galen married Becky Gazaway in 1986. The couple have four boys and eight grandchildren. Galen worked for Crane Plumbing for thirty years and fourteen days. He worked as a Fitter Packer and was well known at being the fastest at his job. In the early 1980s Galen was on the Johnny Carson show. He was picked to come on stage and interview as a stand in for Johnny that day, and he was chosen by the audience to replace him. His hobbies are woodworking and selling his crafts at local craft fairs. Galen was a volunteer project leader in 4 -H with woodworking. He was inducted in the 4-H leaders Hall of Fame with over twenty years of service. This year he became a fifty year Mason at Erie, Illinois.
