Lee Hardman & Marci Long

With a sad heart we say “ Good-Bye to Marci Long . She is retiring and moving to California to be closer to her family .

Marci has worked for Community Springs for 12 years in the environmental services department .

She will be greatly missed by residents and staff alike . The residents have said many times “ If you lose an article of clothing just let Marci know , she ’ ll find it .”

Good luck Marci and safe travels .

Karen Gannaway was born Nov . 7 , 1943 , at home in Stockton , Missouri to parents Richard Lee and Willia Ether ( Castell ). Karen has one sister Gene Williams . The family lived on a farm outside of Stockton close to the lake .

Karen had Polio and Scoliosis as a young child . She spent most of her time from the age of 12 to 18 staying at the Children ' s Hospital in St . Louis , Missouri . The doctors told her she would never be a mother , but she has three children , six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren .

Karen went to school at Dadeville , Missouri where her mother was a school teacher . She went to school there until she graduated .

After graduation Karen went to work as a waitress . She loved working with people . One of her favorite jobs was when she went to work at Humansville Nursing Home . She worked there for awhile , then decided at age 42 , to go to school to get her nursing degree .
