Community Springs meal times are 7-9 a . m . for breakfast , 11:30 a . m . -12:30 p . m . for lunch , and 4:30-6 p . m . for dinner . If you call during these times , please know that we are serving our residents and may be unable to answer the phone . Please call prior to or after the meal times listed . Larry Pipes was born on a farm in Bates County Feb . 7 , 1941 , to the parents of Sam and Ruby Pipes . Larry had two sisters . Larry went to a one room school house that was a quarter mile down the road on his family ’ s property . His family lived on a dairy farm and his father had 40 milk cows . The family had two milking machines . When Larry was thirteen he could milk two cows in the time it took him to set up the machines .
Larry graduated from Butler High School in 1958 , and went on to college at University of Missouri , Columbia , Missouri to study Agricultural Journalism . He studied for 3 years , and then returned 19 years later to finish his degree . While Larry went to school at MU Larry was in ROTC with the Air Force to help pay for his education , he also worked as a carrier for the United States Postal Service .
Larry moved to St . Louis in 1961 , and continued working with the Postal Service . While there he met the love of his life Elaine in 1964 at a Steak n ’ Shake , where she visited often with her sister . Larry and Elaine were married Oct . 1 , 1966 . Together the copule have one child , Jerry and two grandchildren .
Larry moved to El Dorado Springs in 2018 to live on his parents farm . He joined us at Community Springs Healthcare Facility in 2020 .
