Meet our
Resident of the Month
Grace Fleener was born May
3, 1920, in Rich Hill, Mo. Grace
was the eldest of 11 children.
She spent most of her childhood
in the Rich Hill area. There was
a time during her childhood, that
Grace and her entire family had
to live in a tent in the oil fields
of Oklahoma, where her father
was working at the time.
Grace was the valedictorian
of her graduating class and had
always dreamed of becoming a nurse. When her mother became
suddenly ill, she had to drop out of college and return home to
help care for her family.
Grace met, and eventually married, Kenneth Fleener in
Butler, Mo. Together, the couple lived on a farm and were blessed
with eight children. Kenneth and Grace were married for 60 years.
Sadly, in 1999, Kenneth passed away.
Grace is known for her quick wit and a good sense of humor. She
loves people and her children bring her so much joy and happiness.
At Community Springs, she can often be found playing Bingo and
working jigsaw puzzles. Thank you for sharing your story and being our October Resident of the Month.
