Resident of the Month Nancy Leonard Nancy was born to Harold and Olive Corder May 11, 1941, in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. At a young age Nancy would tell her mom that she had to have a sister, and four years later her younger sister, June, was born. Nancy’s father was a truck driver and hauled corn from Iowa to Arkansas. Many times the family would join him in his travels across the states. Her Mom was a homemaker and worked at the Nevada State Hospital. Later, her father went to work at the State Hospital. Nancy grew up in the country and went to a country school. She started the 8 th grade at El Dorado Springs School. She was in the Glee Club, but was limited to participation in most activities due to transportation. Nancy gradu- ated from El Dorado Springs School in May 1959. She met her husband, Cletis, during her senior year of High School and the couple were married on Dec. 19, 1959. They lived in the Blackjack area, working the family farm and had three sons who also helped on the farm. Nancy was always busy, tending to the garden and canning vegetables. She also attended the baseball games all season long and then football games with the boys. The family attended church at Blackjack and Bethel Free Will, where she was the church secretary and Sunday School teacher. Nancy also worked at the local shoe factory for a short time and then at the Dunbrooke Shirt Factory for 20 years. Nancy and Cletis were married for 52 years and have 12 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. Nancy enjoys traveling and has made trips to California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia and Wyoming. She loves to read and has had many book collections including Romance Christian Novels. Nancy participates in several activities and events held at Community Springs.
