Meet our
Resident of the Month
Zada Brown was the first child
born to Wes and Neva Wheeler.
Zada was the eldest of six children.
In 1945, she graduated from Osceola
High School. After graduation, she
attended Warrensburg where she
earned her degree in Elementary
Education. Zada went on to teach at
Dunkird Schools.
Zada married, Charlie Brown, her
high School sweetheart. Their first
child, a son, was born at the Family
farm in Osceola.
It wasn’t long before Charlie, Zada
and their son had to relocate for Charlie’s job. In all, they lived in
Kansas, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. “Our second son was
born in Odessa, Texas,” explained Zada with a smile. “Our third son
and our daughter were both born in Kermit, TX.”
Zada has always been active in their church. “Charlie and I were two
of the original eight founding members the First Baptist Church in Moab, Utah,” she said proudly. “I’ve always worked with children in Sunday School and Bible School.
In 1960, Charlie, Zada and their children returned to Missouri, in
order to run the family farm. In all, Zada has been blessed with 11
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
On Wednesday, June 1, Zada represented Community Springs
Healthcare Facility in the 2016 MHCA District 4 Ms. Nursing Home
Pageant. Thank you Zada for being our July Resident of the Month and
sharing your story.
