Betty Dukes Perkins was born on Jan . 24 , 1924 , in Osceola , Mo ., to Harry and Glenn Dukes . There were seven children in the family , five boys and two girls , and Betty was the sixth in line . All five of her brothers served over seas .
Betty met her husband JB while still in high school . They both graduated from high school in Osceola . The two both attended college in Warrensburg , Mo . Betty and JB were married for 55 years , and were blessed with one son , three grandchildren , and seven great-grandchildren . They owned their own lumber yard where she met all kinds of interesting people .
Betty traveled all over the world including Scotland and Ireland . Betty loved to travel and see new things . She really enjoys her life and meeting interesting people . Betty was also involved with the Christian women ' s group and church . She spent 65 years in the Eastern Star .
One of the things that Betty is most grateful for is after her brother ’ s ship went down during the attack on Pearl Harbor he survived by swimming to the shore .
Betty loves being involved in all the activities at Community Springs . She loves living here and plans to make this her home . She really enjoys all the staff that cares for her and wants everyone to know this was her first choice when it was determined she was unable to return to her home .
During meal times Betty loves to be known as table 14 . She enjoys the people she sits with and hopes that people will remember them as the crazy loud table .
