Growing up, Dewey was the eldest of six children. Upon graduating from high school, Dewey and his family moved to Missouri, where his mother had been raised. After his family moved to Missouri, Dewey was set up on a blind date with Lois Steward. In 1958, surrounded by family and friends, the couple were married in a beautiful August ceremony. Together, Dewey and Lois decided that Missouri was the perfect place to live and raise a family. Dewey has always had a love for agriculture. He spent most of his career operating a farm, before deciding to become a crop insurance adjuster. After his retirement from agriculture, Dewey worked maintenance for an apartment complex and drove school bus. Eventually he worked for Community Springs Healthcare Facility as the courtesy van driver. In February 2013, just 10 day before Lois lost her battle with cancer, the couple decided to make Community Springs Healthcare Facility their home. Dewey enjoys woodworking, attending church and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He enjoys picking pecans and walnuts and is known for his sense of humor. Dewey currently serves as the resident mail man and can be found engaged in a friendly game of dominoes. Thank you Dewey for being our Resident of the Month! Are you a caring individual who would like to assist in caring for the elderly? Community Springs Healthcare Facility has nursing and volunteer opportunities. For more information, contact Community Spring’s Administrator Chris Vickers at 417-876-2531.
