Community Options Annual Report 2013 | Page 3

3 | ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING REPORT About our great organization Community Options encourages, educates and inspires children and their families to fully participate within their community. Our Child Care programs have continued to provide the highest standards of care for children and support for their families. Edmonton Northwest Child Care Centre maintained its accredited status, thanks our hardworking and dedicated child care staff. Edmonton Northwest Out of School prepared for their first annual accreditation renewal, and is actively engaged in the ongoing Quality Enhancement Plan. Accreditation has allowed our staff to receive additional compensation, enhanced professional development opportunities, and additional funds for these programs. Edmonton Northwest Preschool, our newest program, is in its third year at Inglewood School, with full enrolment and a program focus on social and emotional development goals. FCSS funding enabled us to provide the preschool program at minimum cost to families, enabled the provision of family supports in our child care program and facilitated volunteers through the position of Director of Resources and Volunteers. Generous donations from Churchill Retirement Community, and individual donors were received, to support nutri- tion needs of low income children attending Inglewood School. We truly appreciate this recognition of the needs of young children for healthy food to support healthy development. Through this funding, we can provide food for any child in our programs and in the school: children who come to school hungry are sent to our out of school care program to get breakfast, lunch or a snack as needed.
