Recreation, Parks and Open Space
Throughout our Village, 367 acres of pas-
sive/active Village parkland and Board of
Education property comprise the parks, open
space and conservation areas which include
the following recreational facilities: 16 tennis
courts, 30 baseball/softball fields, 2 football
fields, 9 multi-purpose fields, 3 synthetic
turf fields, a roller hockey rink/skate park,
walking tracks/trails, picnic area, an outdoor
amphitheater, sand bottom pool, bike trail
route and two community garden sites.
Designated municipal parks and wildlife areas
abound, they include: Veteran’s Memorial
Park, Memorial Park at Van Neste Square,
Irene Habernickel Family Park, Graydon
Park, Pleasant Park, Citizen’s Park, Grove
Park, Leuning Park, Maple Park, Twinney
Pond Park, Gypsy and Kings Pond Park and
Schedler Property Park. competitive swimming and winter skating
at Graydon Pool. The Parks and Recreation
Department offers many programs rang-
ing from a summer day camp, youth team
sports, pre-school daytime activities, senior
programs, health and fitness and diverse
afterschool classes of enrichment, art, music
and recreation. The Kasschau Memorial Shell
at Veteran’s Field hosts free evening con-
certs and entertainment during the summer.
A movie theater, the YMCA, cultural facilities
for music, dance theater and the arts, scores
of organization and varied special events
including the traditional Fourth of July
parade and fireworks, Ridgewood Street Fair,
bring enjoyment to our community annu-
ally and other special Village wide events.
Participating in these offerings includes the
Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce and the
Ridgewood Guild.

Seasonally, there is summer recreational and
