FANTASY“ WATCH ME” BY TAHEREH MAFI
James Anderson had a plan. Or half of one. All that matters is that he managed to do what his older brother, the famous Aaron Warner Anderson, never did: infiltrate Ark Island, the last refuge of The Reestablishment. In the past decade no outsider has breached the stronghold of the authoritarian regime, but James is in. In a prison cell, sure, but as far as James is concerned, a win is a win. It’ s been 10 years since the fall of The Reestablishment. Ten years since the notorious duo led a worldwide rebellion and established the New Republic of the West. But after a decade of unsettling quiet, The Reestablishment is ready to make a devastating move, and they have the perfect person for the job.
Rosabelle Wolff had a plan. She always has a plan. On Ark Island, where constant surveillance is packaged as security, even emotions must be experienced with caution. A trained assassin, her every movement is monitored by synthetic intelligence— and when she’ s given an order to kill, she never hesitates.
ROMANCE“ THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND” BY BEVERLY GAGE
You should read this book if you like: Contemporary romance, romantic comedies, cruise ship weddings, childhood besties, friends-to-lovers arcs, fake relationship gambits or shipboard shenanigans.
Shipboard antics ensue in this witty, heart-tugging, childhood-friends-to-lovers romance— as JoJo and Cooper fake flirt, slow dance, share a cabin, sing duets, treat sunburns, get jealous, rescue each other over and over, and finally, at last, figure it all out in the most blissful, swoony, romantic way.
THRILLER“ Mad Mabel” by Sally Hepworth
I have read every book published by Freida McFadden, and this one is no different. Known for her psychological thrillers, this is McFadden’ s latest release, just it time for summer vacation reading.
“ The Divorce” is about a woman whose seemingly perfect marriage ends when her husband leaves her for a younger woman. He kicks her out, hires the city’ s best divorce lawayers and drains their accounts.
This leads Naomi to investigate the new girlfriend and uncover dangerous secrets.
What begins as cynical curiosity soon twists into obsession and then into something far darker. As Naomi uncovers secrets she never imagined, she realizes her own life may be in danger.
The book follows Naomi as her curiosity turns into a dark obsession, putting her own life in jeopardy as she tries to hold onto her family.
ROMANCE“ THE LAST LETTER” BY REBECCA YARROS
Do not read this amazingly written book unless you are OK with shedding a few hundred tears. Talk about a tear jerker that comes out of nowhere!
This military romance tells the story of Beckett, a soldier who promised his dying best friend, Ryan, to look after his sister, Ella, and her twins back home in Colorado.
Each chapter begins with a letter from either Beckett or Ella, who connect and fall in love through writing before they ever meet in person. Their anonymous correspondence evolves into a deep emotional connection, complicated by the secret of his identity and the truth about Ryan’ s death.
You will experience every range of emotion possible while reading their journey to each other, with everything from love, loss, loyalty to healing.
