While on board we also had several sea days, which we filled with swimming and hot tubbing, watching various comedy and musical shows and lots and lots of food. The girls even got up and sang together during karaoke one night. And of course I took my chances at bingo since that is what brought us to this trip. I wasn’ t so lucky this time unfortunately.
My 11-year-old spent most of her time with Camp Ocean, the free onboard children’ s camp. She made lots of friends and enjoyed running around the boat with them, riding the water slides and more.
Speaking of water slides, there were several on our boat, as well as an entire sports area with basketball courts, mini golf and other fun activities for all ages to enjoy.
It’ s a great idea to search for a Facebook group for your cruise before
you go. They schedule meet-ups and other things to start your cruise off right. Type in your cruise ship name and the dates to find one. I joined a few groups before the trip and the girls and I signed up for gift exchanges and duck exchanges. We enjoyed visiting various rooms to deliver those gifts.
One of my favorite things about cruises are the towel animals your steward leaves in your room every day. The girls enjoyed seeing the different creatures. Our steward was wonderful and it was nice being able to walk back into the room to beds made and fresh towels every day, just like when you’ re at a hotel.
The worst part of the entire week? Disembarkation day— aka it’ s time to get off and go home. Sunburnt and exhausted, we began the fivehour trip back to Johnson County, after a stop at Buccee’ s, of course.
