PRESIDENT ’ S MESSAGE
A FOND FAREWELL
At the beginning of this year , if one were to ask me if I thought this year
would bring the challenges that it has , I would have said no . As I reflect back on the challenges of this year for CAI-SD from staffing changes to navigating COVID , I am grateful for the support not only from my fellow Board Members but from all of our wonderful members .
It is hard to believe that this is my final message as President of CAI-SD and that I have not seen most of you in almost a year ! To say this year has been an odd year to be President is an understatement ! As I write this , we are still in search of a replacement ED and are hopeful to have this seat filled by year end . We have been fortunate to have DJ Conlon as our Interim ED to guide us through these challenging times and to help us get our house in order before bringing in new staff . DJ has been absolutely phenomenal ! I could not express my gratitude in words . Thank you DJ .
As I get ready to hand the baton over to our next fearless President , Nathan Cornett , I am hopeful for the next chapter . Nathan has been a fantastic President- Elect and I am certain he will be a fantastic President for our chapter as we embark on future challenges and victories !
I will end with a heartfelt thank you to the CAI-SD Board of Directors for all the time , dedication and energy that have been put into CAI-SD this year . In 2021 we will say goodbye to some of our great Board Members , Laurie Poole , Yvette Huffman , Clint McClure and Rachael Robenolt who will all be greatly missed ! I also would like to thank you , our CAI-SD Members , for your patience , grace and support , I am forever grateful .
Melissa Brown , AMS , PCAM
Melissa Brown is the San Diego County Regional Director for The Avalon Management Group . She has 20 years of experience in the Homeowner Association Industry . Melissa obtained her CAI , AMS designation in 2013 and the prestigious PCAM designation in 2014 . Melissa is wellrounded in all aspects of Homeowner Association Management . She has previously chaired the CAI San Diego Manager Support Committee and is on the Education Committee . Melissa was awarded the CAI San Diego Community Manager Member of the Year Award in 2017 .
