an Diego has always attracted visitors to
its fine weather and natural beauty. Our
hometown doesn’t win sports titles, but
when springtime brings hits, runs and
good pitching, ticket prices and local
enthusiasm for Padres suddenly go up! Visitors
keep coming and many never leave San Diego.
Natives of our big small town-city barely notice
the changing seasons this time of year. Indulge me
for a moment, as I recently grabbed a coffee near
28th Street Park. I’m sitting on the park bench, I
look over my shoulder and see the corner baseball
field; it’s 5th grade, my school v. powerhouse St.
Patrick’s; last inning. Grand Slam home run wins
the game… Ahhh, summer memories…next time
