At the beginning of the summer , I was a bit nervous about starting at Impact Hub Baltimore . I did not have much experience working in nonprofit management or the social enterprise space , so I felt a bit unprepared going into work . This fear was unfounded , as the team at Impact Hub are some of the most welcoming , kind , and interesting people I have ever had the privilege of working with . I hit the ground running at the beginning of the summer , as Impact Hub was gearing up for a Small Business Mini-Summit throughout the day , followed by an evening celebration for alumni of the Empower Baltimore program , a six-week cohort-based program that helps small business owners to create or revamp their websites . I got to attend and report on the event , and later wrote blog posts that detailed some of the highlights . Throughout the rest of the summer , I started a storytelling series to highlight different people and events within the Impact Hub space as part of a larger series that Impact Hub is beginning .
Although I have definitely begun to strengthen many technical skills , the most valuable thing I learned from Impact Hub is how to be a productive member of a team . I have witnessed a working environment where team members truly respect , trust , and appreciate each other . I have seen firsthand how these elements of a working environment make coming into work joyful and fun , while also giving space for team members to take time for themselves . Trust is a beautiful element of any working relationship . I am so thankful for the wonderful team at Impact Hub for being so welcoming . As I embark on my final year at Hopkins , I have developed another home base here in Baltimore , for which I am truly thankful .
