4. Tharu Community Homestay
Tharu is an ethnically indigenous group to the Terai; the southern foothills of the Himalayas in Nepal. The flat land
of the Himalayan kingdom, Nepal, Terai is as green as the nature, herself.
Tharus, who have always settled by the dense forest zones and rivers, and have made farming as their major
occupation; their culture is greatly influenced by various languages found nearby Urdu, Hindi, Maithili, and Bhojpuri.
Tharu Community Homestay is a dream project to uplift and protect the culture and tradition of the Tharu community,
and let the world know the beauty of Tharu culture, tradition, arts and crafts. Tharu Community Homestay is an
example of unity and a passion of people for protecting their indigenous. Its, primary, aim is to empower, and to
educate women and children from the surplus generated by the Homestay.

their traditional disciplines, their cultural dance
performance, and serving authentic dishes
to the guests are some of the exercises the
Homestay project follows to protect the culture
of Tharu ethnicity.
