The Agricultural Marketing Service ( AMS ) is recruiting for Agricultural Marketing Specialists ( Regulatory ) to work in the National Organic Program ( NOP ).
AMS Recruiting for Agricultural Marketing Specialists : Assistant Director and Policy Analysts
During the first week of November , AMS will announce two jobs vacancies for Agricultural Marketing Specialists in the National Organic Program ( NOP ) Standards Division .
The Assistant Director is responsible for the development and review of organic regulations , policies and guidance in accordance with the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 ( OFPA ) and NOP regulations . The Division is also responsible for the National Materials List and supporting the National Organic Standards Board .
The duties may include , but are not limited to :
Standards Development and Interpretation
Policy Development and Communication
Materials Review ( National List ) of Prohibited Substances
Leads the Division ' s project and workflow management in support of the Standards Division Director .
Represents the Standards Division with industry groups , international constituents , U . S . interagency and Federal-State groups or agencies and other organizations . The Assistant Director position is based in Washington D . C . and is GS-14 .
The second position is for a Policy Analyst . The Policy Analyst is responsible for the development and review of organic regulations , policies and guidance in accordance with the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 ( OFPA ) and NOP regulations . The Policy Analyst contributes to the development of instructions and policy memos pertaining to the sound and sensible implementation and enforcement of USDA organic regulations .
The duties may include , but are not limited to :
Conducts extensive research on existing and potential policies and procedures to inform the industry of how the USDA organic regulations apply to specific situations .
Drafts the policy content using the corresponding template . Utilizes USDA organic regulations and other Federal regulations and policies , and engages with USDA colleagues , as appropriate , to develop policy content .
� Conducts market and economic analyses to evaluate potential impacts of policy changes , particularly for significant rulemaking .
