Community Garden Magazine Issue Two October 2015 | Page 2

Letter from the Publisher Greetings! It has been a whirl of time getting you this issue and soon rolling out the next Issue of “Community Garden”. There is a lot of news to share, in time we’ll get those Videos in place to share with you. Plus, I am hoping to have a Mobile APP in place for you to use. It is all Exciting! Definetly a whirl wind of activity. There are also search engines to add, more servicing management for a Digital Magazine….so much more to do to have the product I want you to Enjoy! In time, an Editor will be in place and she knows how to do all of this Technology stuff. I’m just getting it up and running and then helping to shape the messages we want to share with you. There is so much going on in Community Gardens and other Food Systems in the United States, it is always changing. And, Thankfully, in the World. Community Gardens are started with a Mission in mind. You are wanting to help or benefit some Group of folks. This is what separates us from the other Food System components. We are started to help a Group of people as a Mission. The goal is to make an impact, change lives, increase someone’s chance to have better nutrition. We have a mission. Farmers Markets can use some of our folks produce or fruits to sell. There can be some pocket change in someone’s purse as they adjust from one job to another, or, work to find a Job that pays them enough not only to live but thrive. Community Gardens are here to serve a purpose. We want to feed others and in doing so feed ourselves. Join the bandwagon….more Community Gardens are coming! More Schools, more Corporations starting a Community Garden, more Groups are gravitating toward starting more ways to feed folks, and, it just makes good economic sense to make sure all folks are fed. Contact the American Community Gardening Association if you have any Questions, needs, or, need steering what to do in starting your Community Garden. Start several as the need is there. THANKS! to all who volunteer or donate to a Community Garden where you live, work, or play. It is needed. Every one that is started. Write us at [email protected] if you have any story ideas, or, Questions. If you have any Video that you want to share with us to use in the Digital Magazine please send that also. Lets all learn and grow together! Have a Great Community Garden Day! Mary K. Hukill, Publisher Community Garden 2
