News Snippets…………….. Every School should have a Community Garden. Seniors are the next projected “poor” to be in America. They are having to more choose between eating Food and paying for Medicine. Community Gardens will help close the gap of folks eating and eating well. Sell some of your Community Garden items at your local Farmers Market for pocket change! Make something of the Community Gardens in Schools for Lesson plans. Introduce Biology, other Sciences, Math, Responsibility, Row Planning, Donating to a local Food Pantry or Food Bank, selling produce to the School Cafeteria below the cost of them purchasing the items from a vendor. Use the FUNDS to start your next year project or a FUN classroom event or field trip. One out of six people go Hungry every day. If you are a town of 60,000 then 10,000 of your residents today have gone Hungry a t some point. Help them with a Community Garden. Remember the Veterans and create a Community Garden for them. Do you have any Wheelchair accessed Community Garden sites or areas. When planning out a Community Garden site, remember: How are you accessing water. Rain Barrels can help access water, irrigation, water spigots, watering tanks, etc. Always congratulate your Volunteers for the hard work they are doing. Thank them, also. What Fall Harvest event are you doing this year. Volunteers can come from large town Businesses plus your Neighborhood. 12
