Letter from the Publisher
Greetings!
What a Great time of the year!
This time of the year feels as special to me as Spring. The GREAT colors of Fall are so inviting!
And, are you doing any Harvest and Harvest meals with your Community Garden Group. Are
you adding any Hoop Houses……..are you extending your Community Garden time or shutting
things down. It is a busy time of the year. Some Groups are doing a last GREAT push for
Fundraising Events. WOW!!! A lot to do. Good Luck!
What are you doing to create new space and combine indoor use. How many are doing vertical
gardens and inside gardens. You can do Vertical Gardening in so many forms and with a lot of
various products. Think outside the Box. Extend the area where you can grow more Food.
Also, think of growing some Food inside an old warehouse spruced up, some older building not
put to much use and you are allowed some gardening space. Or, create an Agri-Economy
Incubator for your city or town. Portion off an older building or warehouse and make several
spaces to rent out and have various small companies or groups grow product. Or, something
they can eat. This is the time to think being Food Sustainable.
What are you doing to make sure YOU and YOUR Family are able to eat no matter the
conditions of the weather, circumstances, or, even the Economy. Hope we don’t have to deal
with some Nation attacking us, but, if we do, please have something set aside to eat if the
Trucks can’t get to the Supermarkets in a day or so. During one winter Blizzard years ago, we
didn’t have Trucks at the Supermarkets for days. Be prepared. Think ahead of things as best as
you can.
Well, Enjoy! the Pumpkin pie, the pumpkin pie lattes, and, all the other Pumpkin flavor items
that your city or town pumps into the retail market. This season doesn’t last too long, so,
Enjoy! Mary K. Hukill, Publisher
