Our community relies on the skills and talents of
people in our own community to learn and grow.
Anoka-Hennepin Community Education employs a
team of approximately 2,800 dedicated staff who
promote lifelong learning each day.
Our mission
Anoka-Hennepin Community Education is dedicated to lifelong learning,
involving people and enriching communities.
There are a variety of positions employed at
Anoka-Hennepin Community Education:
Adult basic education staff
Some learners encounter unique circumstances in
their personal lives that prevent them from finishing
high school. Adult basic education programs provide
a safety net for these learners and help them navigate
roadblocks to academic success.Teachers, literacy
assistants, coordinators and supervisors are needed
to support this important work.
Aquatics
Our community pool is home to open swim, aquatic
exercise and competitive swim programs, and
swimming lessons. We accept applications for
lifeguards, water safety aides and instructors
year-round.
Child care
Adventures Plus, the school-age care program located in our schools, offers a
wide variety of flexible full- and part-time opportunities working with children.
Our program is often attractive and convenient for school staff looking for extra
hours, retirees, students considering a career in child care or currently attending
high school or college, and young adults building their resumes and experience.
Coordinating classes and activities for adults or youth
We pride ourselves on providing a variety of enrichment, recreation and athletic
opportunities for youth and adults. Coordinators, programmers and secretaries
are responsible for building partnerships and collaborative relationships within
our district and community organizations, and scheduling, marketing and
delivering a broad range of classes in our schools and local community. We also
accept applications year-round for those interested in staffing our school sites,
serving as building security.
Early learning and preschool staff
Working with young minds is exciting and rewarding. Anoka-Hennepin Schools’
early childhood programs provide classes, home visits, special events and support
services for families with children ages birth to kindergarten. We are proud to
offer preschool programs in many of our schools, which gives us the chance to
align our work with the teachers in K-12 classrooms and ease early learners into
their transition to elementary school. Community Education employs licensed
parent educators and early childhood teachers for Early Childhood Family
Education (ECFE) and preschool programs.
