“I tried only online at first, which did
not go well. Then, I heard about the
classes, so I decided to give them a try.
I honestly feel as though I would not of
been able to complete my GED if not for
the school and its teachers. The program
is full of great teachers, volunteers,
and students. I finished my schooling
in just over a month, six years after
my graduating class. I’m very proud of
myself and can’t wait to see what life

METRO NORTH ABE CONSORTIUM
Now imagine doing so during an
oral interview of 100 questions
on U.S. History and Government,
which is what students need to do
to pass their U.S. Citizenship test!
At the end of the 10-week
citizenship class, students preparing
to take the exam sit down with
volunteers for a mock interview.
Volunteers help students identify
areas where they need more practice
and help them gain confidence
going into their interview. Past
participants have reported that
this is a valuable preparation
that helps them pass the exam.
