Children’ s Time
Children will stay in the classroom with the Early Childhood staff. The child educator’ s role is to observe, encourage, play and guide children’ s exploration and give help when needed. Children learn through play. They learn about themselves and others through initiating and participating in activities they choose and by being with other children. Children are learning to: Make their own choices. Explore how things work and how to solve problems. Develop and express imagination and creativity. Express their feelings and energy in healthy ways. Talk and share ideas. Build strength and control of their bodies. Increase their ability to concentrate. A simple snack may be offered during this time. Snack time is an opportunity for children to work on their social, emotional and language skills.
Donations of snacks are appreciated.
Circle Time
Children may wander during Circle Time and that is okay. Please stay in the circle while staff guide children back. Children ages three to five years old are encouraged to stay in the circle for the duration of circle time. Children learn by repetition, we often repeat songs, games, fingerplays and activities.
Parent / Caregiver Discussion Time
Discussion time is tailored to participants’ needs and children’ s ages. The Parent Educator brings knowledge, information and expertise based on current research. The Parent Education Core Curriculum Framework is used as a topic guide and content is structured around five main areas: Early Childhood Development Family Development Culture and Community Parent Development Parent-Child Relationship During discussion time all personal information shared is kept confidential. We all have different ways of parenting and it is ok to disagree and still support each other. This is a time for questions and resource sharing. After discussion time, parents will return to the classroom.
