School-age care:
Adventures Plus is the school district school-age
child care program, open to all Anoka-Hennepin
Schools students and provided at elementary school
sites. Care is available before- and after-school, and
all-day on school release days - including winter,
spring and summer breaks.
Swimming:
Swimming and water safety is a skill that children will
use for life! Community Education offers swimming
lessons to support youth with a wide range of skill
levels.
For children
Community Education plays a critical role in helping young people grow from children to teens. Youth-focused
programs and services provide more than just education or entertainment - they contribute to a safe and healthy
community by providing young people with engaging activities that help them grow into productive citizens.
Activities and enrichment:
The Community Schools program provides fun activities and learning opportunities for children after-school, in the
evenings and on the weekends to enhance academic and social experiences while students are out of school.
Athletics:
Elementary and middle school athletic programs are supervised and led by trained coaches, licensed teachers or
knowledgeable staff who emphasize skill development, participation, teamwork, and respect for others. Community
Education also offers camps and clinics to help students in grade levels from preschool up to high school.
Youth programs follow nationally
recognized youth program quality
assessment (YPQA) standards and
processes to develop and improve
our curriculum, classes and programs
to advance child and youth
development in our schools.
Tutoring:
Tutor Connect, an academic support program aligned
with the K-12 curriculum, allows staff to work with
students in one-on-one or small group settings to
provide an extra academic boost, to catch up or
speed ahead!
Youth Service:
Community Education coordinates meaningful
leadership and service opportunities, trips and
projects to support the community.
Children that participate in high-quality
after-school programs go to school more,
receive better grades and perform
better on tests.

Youth service programs
coordinated at each of our
high schools contribute
nearly 62,000 hours of
service to our local and global
communities each year.
