ATHLETICS! WELCOME Fall is the perfect time to discover community education! Participating in extra-curricular activities and athletic programs is a great way for students to engage in their school community as they meet friends and learn new things. Information for athletic participants: Middle school athletics focus on skill development, participation, teamwork and safety. Teams are formed based on each player’s skill level. Teams practice after school and compete against other Anoka-Hennepin middle schools. Equipment/uniforms are provided for most sports. Games are held between 4 - 6 p.m. Activity buses are provided Monday-Thursday. Parents are responsible for transportation on Fridays and after games. Community Education offers a wide variety of unique activities in the evening, on the weekend or afterschool – designed for teens – to enhance their academic and social experience: Students must have a Sports Qualifying Physical (valid for three years), Eligibility and Emergency Health forms on file to participate in the middle school athletic programs. Immunizations are not the same as a physical. BOYS BASKETBALL In this competitive basketball league, players are taught basketball skills and strategies. Who Grades 7-8 Date/Day Sep 9-Oct 20 M-F Location Each MS Wks 6 Time 3:15-5:15 pm Fee $109 CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING CLUB Recreational Join other sixth-grade students from Anoka Middle School in a non-competitive atmosphere that focuses on recreational running. Seventh and eighth grade students at Anoka Middle School should contact Anoka High School regarding grade-specific cross country opportunities. Who Grade 6 Date/Day Sep 14-Oct 7 M/W Location AMS Wks 6 Time 3:05-4 pm Fee $25 Competitive Have fun running and training for cross country meets with your friends! You’ll run one to two miles while competing against other middle school runners in four to five high school meets. Busing is provided to and from meets. With parent permission, students may be dismissed from school early for a few of the meets. Register under your school’s name.
