Arts & crafts Paper, Books and Sculpture Join us at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, where you will learn the process of turning plants into paper. Using authentic papermaking tools, you will use wet paper pulp to make two sheets of cotton paper that you will bring home. Next, get creative with a handmade tunnel book, which means it has openings that allow the reader to see through the entire book to the back cover and forms a three-dimensional scene inside the book that helps to tell the story. We’ll take a lunch break with a delicious boxed lunch including a sandwich, chips, cookie and drink. Next, you will tour the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, where you will have the opportunity to view up to 60 sculptures including a 20-foot-tall blue rooster, enormous sculptures of ordinary objects like the spoonbridge and cherry and a tree filled with wind chimes. Bus leaves promptly at 9:30 a.m. Escorts: Peggy and Pam. Class fee: $15; staff $12 (includes lunch and garden tour). Day/Date: Sat., May 19 Time: 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Location: Northdale MS-Parking Lot The Paper, Books and Sculpture class and the Watercolor Painting class are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. 5 Anoka-Hennepin Community Education 763-506-1290 [email protected]
