ADULT BASIC EDUCATION ( ABE )
Classes offered can help students :
• Learn English ( ESL ).
• Earn a high school diploma .
• Prepare for the GED test .
• Study for U . S . Citizenship .
Anoka-Hennepin Community Education partners with eight school districts and other community partners in the north metro to offer free adult basic education ( ABE ) classes for adults .
All classes are taught by licensed teachers and supported by trained volunteers . Classes begin throughout the year and are offered during the day and evening .
• Build basic skills in math , reading and writing .
• Gain basic computer skills .
• Prepare for college and high demand careers .
• Develop workplace skills .
Students have opportunities to work in groups and independently . Learning is done in the classroom , on the computer , and online .
