EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENING

Screening is required for all children attending Anoka-Hennepin Schools Preschool .

Early Childhood Screening is a FREE , simple check of how your child is growing , developing , and learning .

During screening , your child will complete developmental activities to see if they ’ re meeting important milestones specific to their age . Appointments typically take an hour . Qualified professionals will look at your child ’ s :

• Vision and hearing .

• Height and weight .

• Immunizations .

• Large and small muscles .

• Thinking , language , and communication skills .

• Social and emotional development .

The state of Minnesota requires an Early Childhood Screening record before entering kindergarten . Early Childhood Screening is NOT a kindergarten readiness assessment and should not be put off until right before kindergarten .
