Did you know that screening is required in the state of Minnesota? Screening allows health and developmental concerns to be addressed at least one to two years before a child enters kindergarten. Screening is an early look at a child’s development and is conducted by qualified professionals to help identify specific needs a child may have in these areas: • Fine and gross motor skills • Vision and hearing • Speech and language development • Height and weight • Cognitive development • Immunizations The state of Minnesota requires a health and development screening for every child before kindergarten entry in a public school. The Anoka- Hennepin School District offers this service at no cost. Screening should be completed before a child turns four years old, and we begin as early as three years of age.
