Basic Electrical Backyard Chickens for Beginners
An electrician can cost you hundreds of dollars for simple repairs.
Don’t live with problems, save money by doing simple repairs
yourself! This hands-on class will have you replacing switches
and wall outlets, as well as learning to rewire a lamp. Bring a
wire stripper, straight-slot screwdriver and long-nosed pliers, if
you have them. Supply fee of $5 for “Step-by-Step Home Wiring
Guidebook,” paid to instructor at class. Class fee: $49. Did you know chickens are omnivores, great composters, eat
insects and make excellent pets? Learn flock starting basics and
how to maintain a healthy flock. Topics include breed selection,
brooding, coop options and general care. Learn how easy it is to
get started with your chicks! Instructor, Tom Tidrick, has over 30
years of poultry experience. Class fee: $29.

Basic Plumbing
Learn to repair minor plumbing problems and save precious
money in the process. Take apart different types of faucets,
replace a pop-up drain assembly and discuss the internal
working parts of a toilet. Cut plastic and copper pipe, glue
plastic fittings and solder copper fittings. Supply fee of $5
for “Step-by-Step Guidebook to Home Plumbing,” paid to
instructor at class. Class fee: $49.

Power Tools for Women I
Explore the world of power tools and woodworking in this
introductory, hands-on class. Week one: Learn to safely use drills,
sanders, routers and saws. Everyone will use all tools. Week two:
Complete a small woodworking project to take home. Note:
Long hair must be tied back and no loose clothing for safety
reasons. Bring safety goggles, tape measure and pencil. Supply
fee of $20 paid to instructor at class. Class fee: $49.

Power Tools for Women II
Continue the learning and woodworking fun in this sequel to
“Power Tools for Women I.” You will make a small end table with
bookshelf. Must be able to transport project each night. Long

Beekeeping-Is it For Me?
Explore the world of honeybees and see what the “buzz” is
all about. Take a peek at this fascinating hobby - one of the
fastest growing in Minnesota. Learn about apiaries, basic hive
management, stings, pollination and hive products. Instructor is
a Certified Master Beekeeper. Class fee: $19.

NEW | Beekeeping-The First Two Years
If you’re looking to start a hive this summer, now is the time to
order your bees and learn everything you will need to know for
your first two years of beekeeping. A Certified Master Beekeeper
will discuss honey, bee behavior, hives and equipment plus local
ordinances, costs and time requirements. Apiary visit will be
arranged at class for a later date. You will leave with extensive
handouts to begin your own hive. There will be a discussion
on where to purchase hives and bees at class. Not meeting
March 13. Class fee: $89.

NEW | Containers and Raised Bed Veggies
New varieties and techniques give gardeners an opportunity for
growing tomatoes, peppers, cukes and herbs with limited light
and space. We will focus on varieties that do best in containers
and small garden beds to bring the freshest and tastiest of
flavors to the kitchen table. We will review soils and techniques
that work to maximize production for your efforts. Come with a
