Wellness is more than exercising and eating healthy. It encompasses much more – including mental, physical and social well-being, and feeling fulfilled with the personal choices that you make. I want to invite you to attend our free Community Wellness Day event on Saturday, January 21 at Roosevelt Middle School in Blaine. This is the ninth annual event that our team has coordinated for the community. This year, we are exploring alternative ideas that influence wellness in our daily lives: •A rt: Activities including music, dance, writing, painting, sculpture and experimenting with various other creative outlets have been shown to reduce stress. You will have opportunities to learn how dabbling in arts activities can improve your health. • M oney and finance: Managing or mishandling money may impact your financial freedom and ability to do what you want. Keynote speaker, Jerrid Sebesta, will talk about financial health and how good money management can help all of us follow and live our dreams. • Movement: Although exercise and fitness is an important factor in physical well-being – it doesn’t have to feel like work. We will offer opportunities to explore alternative fitness activities including snow shoeing, dance, yoga, water aerobics and integrating percussion and music with drum sticks into your fitness or cardio routine. •C lean living: Making “clean” choices means what you choose to eat to fuel your body, and the products that we choose to use in our daily life. We hope you can join us. If you aren’t able to attend any of the free activities, workshops or sampler classes that we are offering at Community Wellness Day on Jan. 21, we hope you will explore an interest or hobby that brings you happiness through a community education activity or class that we offer year-round for all ages. www.facebook.com/ discovercommunityed Al Ickler Director Anoka-Hennepin Community Education @AHCommunityEd @AHCommunityEd View the schedule of FREE activities, workshops and classes at www.anoka.k12.mn.us/communitywellnessday.
