Community engagement is critical to the success of our schools and to our
community education department.
You may have heard of the Anoka-Hennepin Schools Fit for the Future task force.
The task force is comprised of 33 community and staff representatives. The school
board has asked them to study community changes and housing growth to make
recommendations about the need for more school space and improvements at
existing schools. I would encourage you to learn more about the process and
conversation if you are interested at anoka.k12.mn.us/fff.
As the district facilities adjust based on changes in the community, Community
Education will make adjustments to ensure that we continue to serve you - our
participants – with excellence.
Another way that our programs work to understand the trends, changes and needs
of our community is by asking our learners and community members for insight.
One important way that we do this is through the Community Education advisory
council. The council meets quarterly to share news and updates about projects
underway in our community. The current council is comprised of residents, city
council members, staff and representatives of local businesses and organizations.
Members have an opportunity to learn more about the district, our department,
and the communities the district serves. Members also provide their advice and
insight into how we can continue to best meet the lifelong learning needs of
residents. To learn more, visit our website at discovercommunityed.com.
