A favorite class ? Instructor Peggy Decker couldn ’ t pick just one ! She ’ s been teaching adult Community Education classes for more than 30 years — at least 25 of them in the Anoka-Hennepin School District .
“ I do still get a kick out of it ,” Decker said . “ I love teaching adults . They come in thinking they can ’ t do something and then they walk away with their own unique item they are so excited about .”

ADULT CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES
One of the first classes Decker taught was discovercommunityed . com how to make macrame chairs , but she ’ s also an expert in making truffles and soup , sewing oven mitts , crocheting , making cord rugs and quilting . Every year she teaches a holiday cookie class where adult students come together to bake dozens upon dozens of cookies and other holiday treats !
ENRICHING LIVES AT EVERY AGE & EVERY STAGE
“ If they need a class , coordinators call me and say do you want to try it ?”
Decker and her husband used to own a lumber company and doing the books for the business was her full-time job . Now that they ’ ve retired , she has even more free time for crafting and teaching . She loves the social aspect of Community Ed classes and engaging with others .
“ It ’ s so great to see adults come together and get to know each other . I ’ ve had people become friends in my class and then take more classes together .”
