Health and safety in our schools and programs

Students learn best when they feel safe and comfortable . Anoka- Hennepin Community Education and Anoka-Hennepin Schools are following health and safety guidelines from the Minnesota Department of Health and the U . S . Centers for Disease Control to safely offer learning opportunities in our schools , neighborhoods and communities .

Limited building access to visitors : Only participants , students and staff at this time .
Passive barriers and signage : Anoka-Hennepin will direct safe behaviors using passive barriers such as floor markings and signage .
Air filtration and bipolar ionization : Air is constantly moving and recycling through the air filtration systems at school , with a full exchange every 10 minutes . Bipolar ionization systems added to them help eliminate 99.4 % of the COVID-19 virus if it should be present . Details are at ahschools . us / safety .
Passive temperature screening : Each visitor ( including students and employees ) is expected to monitor their health conditions and not enter a school if they ’ re demonstrating COVID-19 symptoms .
Onsite testing : No cost saliva testing kits are available to staff every other Monday at Anoka-Hennepin facilities . Participation is optional .
Social distancing : Schools will have visible reminders and encourage a culture that supports social distancing .
Face coverings : Face coverings are required in school facilities following a state order and in compliance with the MDH and CDC guidelines . Anoka-Hennepin will resource to visitors ( including students and employees ) if needed .
Hand hygiene : Anoka-Hennepin will encourage appropriate hand washing on a regular basis . School employees can provide hand sanitizing wipes or hand sanitizer to students when soap and water are not available .
Disinfection and cleaning : Anoka-Hennepin ’ s professional maintenance employees will coordinate enhanced disinfection and cleaning of high-touch areas .
Case management : Self isolation and quarantine will be followed per the MDH guidelines . Notifications to the community will occur after consultation with the MDH .
Classroom management : There will be minimal sharing of hightouch materials . Supply items will only be for individual use .
