Saturdays Leather Craft Let’s Eat Out! Learn the basics of leather tooling (carving and stamping) as well as learning about animal hides and the tanning/ curing process. All materials are provided and you will leave class with a leather key chain or bookmark that you created, as well as a deeper appreciation for the art of leather craft. The day will include two tours, the Pioneer tour which will focus on the story of Jane Gibbs and the Gibbs family market garden farm of the late 1800’s. The Dakota tour will focus on the lifeways of the Dakota, Minne sota’s fi rst people in the early 19th century. A hands-on activity is part of the tours. Participants and staff bring a bag lunch that includes a beverage. Tour will depart from and return to the main entrance of Gladstone Community Center (No building access). Wheelchair seating on the bus is limited. There is no online registration for this tour. Learn the steps to Boot Scootin’ Boogie, then socialize with friends over a delicious continental breakfast. There is a staff charge if staff will be eating breakfast. Using watercolor paints and stencils, you’ll create a painting with a silhouette against a colorful background. Lots of stencils available. You’ll work on your project from 10:15–11:30 am, break for lunch and then fi nish up from 12:15–1:30 pm. All art materials and box lunch are included. Bring an old bath towel and a medium size pizza box to take your project home. There is a staff charge if staff will be eating lunch. Register by November 8. Your tour will begin with a delicious lunch, served at Gladstone at 11:30 am. Following lunch, it’s off to the Capitol. You will return to Gladstone at approximately 2:15 pm.
