Each of those bankers started with involvement in CBI in a way that was comfortable for them. As a small staff organization, we are very cognizant of the effect of the absence of any critical team member so we really appreciate members’ willingness to commit to help serve the industry by serving on a committee, attending an event, or even subscribing to our webinars on industry topics. Another overlooked benefit on helping the association are the networking contacts and friendships that are built in our committees and boards. These relationships often last a very long time and have value far beyond the support they give to CBI. You may wonder where the ideas and concepts that you see happening at CBI come from. As the headline above indicates, many of them come directly from you. We always encourage members to provide feedback, suggestions and referrals to improve our ability to serve and improve. Another source is the organized committees that actually guide the association’s direction and activities. Probably the most well-known committee is the one that creates the annual Management Conference and Convention held annually in July. Beyond that though, are a number of other groups that oversee the activities of CBI including Economic Development, Legislative, Membership and Marketing, Networking Events, Education, and Lending. Each of these committees is comprised of volunteer bankers who get together to make sure that CBI is serving the needs of its members. I am asking for your help in helping direct CBI by volunteering yourself or other staff members to serve on these committees for 2014. Included in this newsletter is a description of each of these groups, their meeting schedule and a sign up form to be returned to the CBI office. Now that fall is here, we need to go to work to make sure that 2014 will be another great year. Each of our staff members are assigned to one or more of these groups to make sure that your thoughts are heard and heeded. Won’t you and your bank help direct your association? We will find the right fit and size to make it happen. Please review the insert in this month’s issue and help CBI grown by having someone from your bank participate by completing the form and returning it to us. Leaders of Tomorrow “CBI’s LOT has been very beneficial to me, not only as a banker, but also as an individual. The group has shown me the ins and outs of the banking industry, but also has allowed me to grow as a leader in my bank, community and family. I can honestly tell you this group has been one of the most beneficial groups for me.” LOT Member Matt Mueller The State Bank, Spirit Lake Call 515.453.1495 to beCome a member of CbI’s lot program.
