Long Time CBI Lobbyist Retires,
New Lobbyist Named
Long time CBI Lobbyist Cal Hultman has
announced his retirement from active
lobbying effective December 31, 2013.
He will remain involved in legislative
affairs with LS2 Group who will work with
many of his former clients. Community
Bankers of Iowa will now be represented
at the Capitol by Jeffrey Boeyink, Senior
Vice President of LS2 Group.
Before joining LS2group, Jeff was named Governor-elect
Terry Branstad’s Chief of Staff and Co-Chairman of Branstad’s
transition team on November 3, 2010. After spearheading the
transition, Jeff served as Chief of Staff until September 6, 2013.
During his service as Chief of Staff, Jeff served as the state’s
chief operating officer and oversaw the day-to-day operation of
the Governor’s office and the entire executive branch of state
government.
Jeff also served as Governor Branstad’s chief policy advisor
and his key successes in this area include: (1) the largest
property tax cut in the state’s history (for all classes of property)
and reform of the commercial property tax; (2) landmark
educational reform that, at its center, provides for a new
teacher-leadership career ladder that rewards outstanding
teachers for taking on expanded leadership roles in their
schools that will work to boost student educational performance;
and (3) a new modern health care delivery system for Iowa’s
poor that promotes healthy activity and health outcomes.
Prior to this appointment, Jeff served as Campaign Manager
for the Governor Branstad 2010 campaign and successfully led
Governor Branstad’s comeback campaign for an unprecedented
fifth term--after the Governor had originally retired as Iowa’s
longest serving governor in 1999.
In addition, Jeff has served as Executive Director of the
Republican Party of Iowa and also worked as an association
manager, PAC director and major donor fund-raiser, lobbyi
