My problem is People do not know about the toxic
•I picked this topic because I am passionate about helping the environment. There was a toxic chemical dumping by the Motorola Company 30 years ago and it is still amongst us and I want people to help people realize the defects and hazardous problems in their neighborhood so they can fix it.

I picked this problem because I wanted to help and help people know what is going on in their community and how they should fix it. This story is mostly based on a motorola company chemical dumping the chemicals. The chemicals used in the dumping were solvent degreasers such as trichloroethylene, acetone, and freon, and metals such as cadmium, chromium, and arsenic.(have not been able to pinpoint the exact place of dumping). This chemicals affected groundwater and residents wells around it and makes it unsafe to drink out of the wells. The water contaminants were detected 5 out of 5 times and the fluoride was found 4 out of 5 times in the groundwater in the wells. These contaminants are moved around by irrigation and if a kid/teen gets into it, it can spread around the community to different children and contaminating the city. These contaminants can be inhaled, ingested, or dermal by people who are around it or someone who was around/in the irrigated contaminated groundwater area.
The Stakeholders of this problem is the government because they spent over 200 million dollar to clean up these contaminants and is estimated to become over 600 million dollars in the future. The U.S. financial is not going as they planned and this superfund is not helping financially either. Another one is the community of people who lives around this which are in the most danger.
A world/city without this problem is a world/city of carefulness, respect, protective and secure. The city of Phoenix, Ariz. will have less worries of the groundwater and citizens being affected, but instead have ideas of what could they do to get the groundwater. Money would be saved and motorola would probably be a stronger corporation. The EPA wouldn’t have to use money (superfund) to fix a problem. I wouldn’t be doing this magazine and you wouldn’t read it. Life will be secure for the future. So I just want to get the word out and help. So, spread the word.
