Dr. Maitland Wiren, D.O., '22, has been made
Academic Chief Resident (PGY-4) in the
Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Temple University Medical School.
Dr. Wiren also serves as the CIR union representative, and leader of the ultrasound curriculum. His primary interests lie in musculoskeletal medicine and spine conditions, especially using regenerative medicine techniques to treat pain and dysfunction in those systems.
He is on the Resident Advisory board for the Expert Education Group, whose mission is to enhance the knowledge of MSK ultrasound for all levels of medical professionals and teaches at their national workshops.
More recently he has collaborated with the Lewis-Katz School of Medicine’s Innovation Lab to develop low cost, 3d-printed ultrasound trainers to help med students and residents gain valuable needle guidance skills. When he is not scanning, he
likes to ride bikes with QCW, a local cycling team or ski in Lake Tahoe with his Uncle.
He plans to attend a NASS fellowship at OSS in York, PA next July.
