Communicating Through the Web Vol. 1 | Page 5

The Yellow Boat Project started because of an equally inspiring story where children had to swim or wade through bodies of water just to get to school.  To-date, the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation has built over 150 yellow boats in three communities, a school in Masbate, a day-care center in Zamboanga and has raised over $30,000 in the last year through online efforts.

But the real heroes in the story are these kids who brave the waters just to get to school.  Whether by boat or by swimming to school, they have conquered the challenges of water and distance.

The boat is a symbol that serves as a vehicle for knowledge and learning.  We hear of stories about affluent kids in Manila who skip school to go swimming but here are kids who swim just to get to school.
