In the shorter term, rising interest rates, tax reform, and new approaches to adaptive reuse are causing practitioners to reassess their knowledge of investment and site- selection fundamentals. CCIMs are well-positioned to face these challenges. But we can no longer just rely on the concepts we learned 20, 10, or even five years ago. In May, CCIM Institute’s Ward Center for Real Estate Studies offered a webinar on block- chain led by representatives from Deloitte that was free for our members. More than 400 people enrolled. The Ward Center also hosted a webi- nar called Capitalizing on Tax Reform in the wake of the recent tax bill. Members can access these archived recordings at www.ccim.com via Members Only. We plan to offer at least two more free-for- members webinars on topical subjects this year. In addition, CCIMs now have access to low-cost Ward Center courses that that focus on specific CCIM core concepts that are integral to commercial investment, such as applying statistical methods to market analysis and understanding the key financial factors that influence user decisions.
