RECYCLING & WASTE MINIMIZATION
Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County
Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County is greatly contributing to changing the way Bergen County handles recycling . Habitat Bergen ’ s affiliate offices handle the building of affordable homes , and the Bergen ReStore , which is a resale shop , carrying gently used furniture , home goods and building supplies . The ReStore is creating positive impacts on our climate and natural environment by participating in the recycling process . The ReStore partners with corporations and individuals who donate , furniture , office supplies , home goods and building supplies . These items , in turn , are sold to the public for a fraction of the cost . This recycling process diverts items out of landfills and contributes to waste minimization within Bergen County .
SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING PRACTICES
Case Medical Case Medical , a New Jersey manufacturer , develops products that promote environmental sustainability and conservation of resources for the healthcare industry . The company specializes in developing reusable packaging and sustainable USEPA Safer Choice-labeled instrument chemistries . Reusable sterilization containers eliminate single use wrap , reducing waste and costly disposal of non-biodegradable materials . Case Medical is a participant in the Chemical Footprint Project and maintains an environmentally preferred workplace using only chemicals and materials that are the safest in their class . The company is a four- time USEPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year for manufacturer / formulator , most recently receiving this honor in 2021 .
The company ’ s CEO , Marcia Frieze , is actively involved in promoting sustainability through education , a weekly blog and webinars , hosting the recent online event , “ Sustainable Cleaning Chemistries for a Healthier World ” with experts from healthcare and industry . Case Medical is a partner with the USEPA Safer Choice Program , The American Sustainability Business Network , and is a corporate member of AAMI .
