Since September 1 in New Jersey , the Red Cross has provided more than 2,070 overnight shelter stays and served nearly 20,670 meals and snacks ; distributed more than 11,620 clean-up kits and 12,069 other relief supplies like comfort kits , rakes , tarps and more ; provided health or emotional support to more than 2,124 people ; and provided 4,355 people from 1,502 families with disaster recovery support through casework .
Carmagnola Sworn in as NJSBA President
Domenick Carmagnola , a Morris County labor and employment law attorney , was sworn in as the 123rd president of the New Jersey State Bar Association ( NJSBA ), the state ’ s largest association of lawyers , judges and legal professionals .
Carmagnola , of Carmagnola & Ritardi , LLC , said he is honored to serve the members of an organization that is the voice of the New Jersey legal community and does so much to promote diversity and inclusion , foster professionalism , provide educational opportunities , advance access to justice and encourage participation in voluntary pro bono activities .
Carmagnola said the Association in the year ahead would be dedicated to several issues , key among them helping attorneys emerge from the pandemic with the tools to thrive in their practice and well-being . He also emphasized the Association ’ s vow to continue the work of its Pandemic Task Force and Commission on Racial Equity in the Law . Further , he said filling judicial vacancies would be a focus of the Association ’ s advocacy .
“ Our courts are currently facing record numbers of judicial vacancies . That means too few judges at a critically vital chapter in our history . It is truly becoming a crisis . The need is real right now . I say that as someone who is involved in court matters every day and who speaks to judges and lawyers every day … Our courts are regarded as the finest in the nation . It is a strong , independent co-equal branch of government . It cannot be allowed to enter the upcoming rollout and face the impending situation without sufficient resources ,” he said .
Carmagnola is a certified civil trial attorney and concentrates his practice in the areas of labor and employment law , representing management and individual defendants in both the private and public sector . He has written numerous articles , contributed to several books , and is a frequent lecturer on labor and employment law matters and litigation .
His involvement in the NJSBA is extensive . He has previously served as trustee of the New

Jersey State Bar Association , chair of its Labor and Employment Law Section and editor of the section ’ s publication . In addition to his NJSBA involvement , he is a former president of the Essex County Bar Association and the Sidney Reitman Labor and Employment Law American Inn of Court .
