The I-Bank and the NJDEP were able to accomplish this by using some of the $ 50 million of funds appropriated to the Drinking Water SRF Program by the legislature and signed into law this fiscal year by Governor Murphy .
NJ TRANSIT ’ s Roadmap to a Zero-Emissions Bus Fleet
NJ TRANSIT continues to aggressively advance its zero-emissions bus program with the release of its roadmap to a 100 percent zero-emission bus fleet . The roadmap is highlighted by several key efforts including the release of a Request for Proposals ( RFP ) from qualified consulting firms for the Bus Garage Modernization Program and the application submitted for federal funding to acquire additional battery electric buses to be used in the Newark region . NJ TRANSIT also remains on track for the launch of the deployment of eight electric buses in Camden by the end of this year .
NJ TRANSIT is the nation ’ s largest statewide public transportation system , providing more than 925,000 weekday trips on 253 bus routes , three light rail lines , 12 commuter rail lines and through Access Link paratransit service . It is the third-largest transit system in the country with
NJ TRANSIT expects to deploy eight electric buses by the end of the year .
166 rail stations , 62 light rail stations and more than 19,000 bus stops linking major points in New Jersey , New York and Philadelphia .
