It’s a breath of fresh…COLD, COLD, COLD!! Brrr!! He says to breath normally (cause he sees me hyperventilating??) and turn in small increments the entire time. Because it’s my first time, he programs it for 1 ½ minutes. It seemed like an hour!!
He’s coaching me the entire time & I don’t know why. Could it be because he saw the PANIC in my eyes when it was time to get in??!!
And just like that, ding, the buzzer goes off, the door opens & I get in the robe. I’m so concerned about being frost-bitten that I forget about the pain. I get dressed & go out to talk with Brian. He says “How do you feel?”. I stop for a moment tilt my head, move my arms & do some squats. O.M.G.!! What the heck just happened?? The majority of my pain is gone. Voila!! Brian just stares at me, then chuckles (nerve!!). He tells me my body will continue warming up & the effects should last a few days. I have to say he is correct. My workouts from there on have been fantastic!!
What should you take from this story? Do your research. Although the medical community needs to complete more research studies on preventative health medicine to determine the true benefits of Cryo, I believe it works. It worked on me. Find a location that you are comfortable with to incorporate Cryo into your recovery program. D1 Sports in Worthington is a good place to start. Don’t let pain stop you from your workouts or excelling to the next level of fitness.
