WAY TO A BETTER GAME

Colour Path Golf is a revolutionary new coaching technique and training aid that will change the way you understand and learn the golf swing .

If you ’ ve ever had a golf lesson , the chances are you ’ ll have heard the term ‘ in-to-out swing path ’. But what exactly does that mean ? Do you know where the clubhead should be ‘ in ’

and where it should be ‘ out ’? Even if you do , how much of an ‘ in-to-out ’ angle are we looking for specifically ? Golf is hard enough without getting into tricky semantics , so wouldn ’ t it be so much easier if your coach could actually show you exactly where the clubhead needs to travel for the ideal ‘ in-to-out swing path ’ – or any other movement or element of the golf swing , for that matter ?
That ’ s exactly what PGA pros John Glenn and Kevin Merry thought , so they came up with Colour Path Golf . Each CPG kit contains 28 pieces of plastic in different shapes and colours that are used to help you understand where and how the club and your body should move during the swing .
“ We were looking for a way we could create greater clarity when delivering instruction to our students ,” explains Merry . “ Traditional coaching methods often focused on internal thoughts around body parts , which have been proven to be less effective when learning motor skills related to sports-specific movement . So we created Colour Path Golf to enable pros to influence the movement of the swing with colour as an externally focused reference .
“ We use each colour to influence a specific response . Yellow is for attention so things like target lines and the takeaway . Blue refers to cool and calm aspects of the swing so the backswing and downswing into transition . Green signifies the ‘ go ’ element of the swing and where we want people to relax as they start to apply power into impact . Finally , red represents aspects of where power lives in the swing , speed and control elements , clubface alignment and ball position .”
It ’ s completely revolutionised how Merry and Glenn are now teaching their students , from complete beginners to tour pros . No longer are messages lost in jargon and interpretation . The instructions are clear to see in glorious technicolour – and golfers are loving it .
“ When using the kit , we only talk about either end of the club ( butt end and clubhead ) and its reference to the coloured strips that we ’ ve placed specifically on the ground ,” says Merry . “ It ’ s unlocked the barrier of communication . Our students are talking in the language of colour in their lessons and no longer feeling overloaded with too many technical thoughts , which enables them to swing the club with greater levels of fluidity .”
Merry continues : “ I was teaching an American gentleman who was complaining about a terrible slice with his driver , so I asked him to place the pieces of kit on the ground the way he interpreted the swing shape that would allow him to draw the ball . He positioned it in the swing shape that produces a slice . I then placed the kit down in the correct position to influence a draw and he hit a beautiful high draw with his very first swing . His face was a picture !”
While the Colour Path Golf kit is at its best in a lesson situation with a qualified pro , it ’ s also a superb tool for displaying the basic concepts , fundamentals and movements of a good golf swing . Turn over to see John Glenn demonstrate and explain set-up , the full swing , pitching and chipping as you ’ ve never seen it before . It could completely change how you see – and play – the game .
